Prenton Park is a stadium in Birkenhead, England. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Tranmere Rovers F.C.. Liverpool reserves also play their home games at Prenton Park.
Rovers moved to the current Prenton Park in 1912. The ground has had several rebuilds, with the most recent occurring in 1994 in response to the requirement of
the Taylor Report to become all-seater. Today's stadium holds 16,567 in four stands: the Kop Stand, the Johnny King stand, the Main Stand and the Cowsheds (for away supporters).
History
Tranmere Rovers bought Borough Road from Tranmere Rugby Club in 1887. The ground was renamed Prenton Park in
1895. Tranmere Rovers rented out the ground to Birkenhead Wanderers rugby league club in 1902.
In February 1912, Tranmere Rovers played their last game at the old Prenton Park as the land is sold to developers and the club moves across the road to the new Prenton Park.
